The Arts Festival has started and I am exhibiting as part of the Made in Kilkenny Group. Words lend the inspiration for this years show. They came from very different directions a Rhythm of a poem, word balloons, Braille and the life of Helen Keller, Quotes, Poems, Bible texts and pryers, song, a story from a young family member and focused on the reader him/her self: seat and reading lights. My inspiration was the Enchanted Forrest, Fairy Tales by the Grimm Brother's. I have a Fairy Tale Book from 1937 with beautiful illustrations, that I looked at as a child before I could even read. My parents had a tree nursery, growing up trees were always very special and magic to me. The Enchanted Forrest can be a dark place, but it is always a setting of transformation, a place where the hero faces his/her fears, learns something, or finds an item of importance, that will bring the story to a happy ending. For more insights come along this Monday and follow me on a tour of the exhibition, starting at 1.30pm in Butler House, Patrick Street, Kilkenny. The Enchanted Forrest 925/- Sterling Silver, oxidized with a hidden Ruby treasure inside.
This is a special Birthday ring, made with 18ct rose gold, gemstones reused from an older ring. What a great sparkle to celebrate my work anniversary too. I can't decide does the cluster look like stars fallen from the sky or are the gems splashing water droplets, I used that nice thought for taking the photos. May abundance be with you all.
