If a Ruby hasn't the typical Ruby colour it is called pink Sapphire. This gemstone is a pink/purple Star Sapphire, with a beautiful 6 ray star effect on the surface, it appears in this case when the light reflects of inclusions inside the gem and is called asterism from the Greek word aster meaning star. Let your star shine today.
Thanks to Flann Manning you can see hours of craftsmanship compressed in only two minutes, I wish I could make a ring that quickly every day.
This was one of my favourite Emerald pendants with a Medusa feel to it. Emerald birthstone of May. Heart opening, unfurling your true self. Enjoy the long weekend.
What seems like a band with a cluster of Gemstones randomly put together, emerged out of careful planning, underwent a journey of soul searching and deep purpose.
The design was developed together with my clients over a period of time, trusting the procedure and questioning the outcome until certainty was reached. Carefully selecting Gemstones and Materials in size and colour from ethical sources. Only the purest energies accompanied the making process.
Taking Family history into consideration and most important of all the love between two people.
This Jewel is symbolising the commitment to togetherness at this time, reflecting personal traits and circumstances, underlined by an Ogham inscription on the band of the ring.
This is what I like doing best, personalised and totally unique jewellery.
May this engagement ring bring you continued love, togetherness and harmony. Thank you for letting me be part of your story.
This project took a lot of thought, it wasn't just a matter of smelting down and start again. This project was to keep treasured memories of holidays visiting an aunt in France alive, in a beautiful way.
Not just a massive 41mm coin stuck at the end of a chain, never to be worn. I must say I had to jump a few paradigms myself, my Dad had been collecting coins and I grew up in minted condition, everything has it's place and coins can't be touched.
Since this particular gem had lost it's minted luster already I just had to get over the cutting bit. I wanted to keep as much of the features in tact as possible and decided to make three interchangeable pendants to break up the size and seriousness of the original.
The centre piece was the start, then I cut carefully around the writing and very close to the edge, the motto "Liberté, Egalité, Fraternité", crowned with a Peridot made the second pendant and I took the rim turned it inside out, shaped into a flowing motion, the wave between conscious thinking and intuition. Speckled with gemstones. An other white(silver), red gold combination. Keeping memories.
If you missed Rapunzel in Butler House, have a look at the "Enchanted Forest" from #WordsintheMaking, my exhibition inspired by #FairyTales.
The Arts Festival has started and I am exhibiting as part of the Made in Kilkenny Group. Words lend the inspiration for this years show. They came from very different directions a Rhythm of a poem, word balloons, Braille and the life of Helen Keller, Quotes, Poems, Bible texts and pryers, song, a story from a young family member and focused on the reader him/her self: seat and reading lights.
My inspiration was the Enchanted Forrest, Fairy Tales by the Grimm Brother's. I have a Fairy Tale Book from 1937 with beautiful illustrations, that I looked at as a child before I could even read. My parents had a tree nursery, growing up trees were always very special and magic to me.
The Enchanted Forrest can be a dark place, but it is always a setting of transformation, a place where the hero faces his/her fears, learns something, or finds an item of importance, that will bring the story to a happy ending.
For more insights come along this Monday and follow me on a tour of the exhibition, starting at 1.30pm in Butler House, Patrick Street, Kilkenny.

I understood yesterday, that it doesn't matter, if I make jewellery from a cherries pip, a beach stone or a diamond.
What is most important to me, is that the piece of jewellery you adorn yourself with connects to your soul.
So for example, if I eat a cherrie during an amazing life changing or happy moment, this pip will always remind me of it.
A space holder a time capsule of my personal journey, it mightn't mean anything to anyone else, but this pip incorporates all the magic of my memory, the story I'll tell my grand children, this tiny piece of wood was witness of that moment in time. It is an anchor for happiness and worth much more to me then a diamond, because it has the power to repeat this moment of happiness for me, every time I look at it. -I am reminded of how blessed I am.The pip is just an example. I have a ring with a stone from my sisters garden, a small piece of Germany, I can wear whenever I am homesick.
So keep your eyes open when happiness comes over you, it might be just a flicker, but it is up to you to seize the moment and repeat it over and over. Like the sea washes over the stone again and again until the tide changes.
I do love the sparkle of diamonds too and all the other amazing gem stones mother earth came up with, find a way to connect with your true self and see what colour and energy comes to you; to enrich your journey positively.
